The biggest concern I would have as an American is that now they can build cases for "digital terrorism" against any creator's platform if they've acquired a large following. They now have access to the database and records and they will use them in a witch hunt for "dissidents" and "terrorists"

If only Americans would read a ton more, rather than awaiting their next shite advertisement to end, they might understand that genuine free speech, while codified in the Bill of Rights, has hardly been a reality in practice for the 200+ years of the country's existence. Just ask trailblazing American women of the 19th Century who, in their fight for entrance into professions like medicine, were usually treated as if they had no speech at all. This isn't hardly as much out of character as folks might think.

Deaglan O'Mulrooney, your report, "the Empire gets its algorithm," on the Zionist takeover of TikTok in America, with its forced handover to prominent tech billionaire, Oracle founder, and Zionist supporter, Larry Ellison, is especially pertinent in the context of Max Blumenthal's claim โ€“ to Chris Hedges, in his September 15th interview with him, "On the weaponization of Charlie Kirk's assassination" โ€“ that the United States is now under a state of occupation by the Ethno-supremacist State of Israel. I recommend this interview to the attention of everyone.

I'm not a big fan of the short video format so I don't use it much. Lol. I just thought I'd check it out. It was pretty cool.

I don't understand why the Chinese didn't just say no, and exit the US market. VPN's would keep Americans connected, and the US would have taken a huge reputational hit. I have to assume China thinks it gets something from this, beyond the cash. I'm guessing they retain proprietary rights to the actual algorithms - the new owners have "operational control" which is not full ownership. Perhaps I'm looking for straws to clutch...

".....TikTok represented a crack in the wall of the established mainstream media monopoly. Its algorithm, unlike the friend-curated feeds of old, was a mercurial, unpredictable beast that could propel content from anyone, anywhere, to viral fame based purely on engagement...."

Well, there are lessons that this generation clearly hasnt learned. They spend all time time on manipulation platforms, while imagining that these arent what they are.

There is no such thing as "social media" in its current incarnations. Those are corporate media - it just so happened that ByteDance was exploiting this purely for commerical purposes....but clearly they know it also has the effect of hollowing out people's brains, by sending them lurching from one tititalltion point to another ie, "engagement", because in China the same companie operates under a time limit for thuse fo this app by young people, because of the known mental health effects. It's a manipulative medium - and it ain't socially owned or controlled by the individuals who put content on the platform or consume it.

Moreover, these are not only corporate media, they are now state-controlled media.

There is no plausibble excuse for anyone spending even one second on these platforms when they are KNOWN to the state-controlled manipulation platforms.

The actual power of the internet lies in people using it for education and growth, which is not going to happen on the Tiktok model of operation or any other "social media".

Iโ€™m curious why would be TikTok blocked in Russia if it was Chineseโ€ฆ Itโ€™s already a globally owned platform, itโ€™s just a matter of time when Trump is going to have a โ€œdealโ€ with the owners. Maybe Iโ€™m wrong and Russia had its own ideas about why that should be blocked, but this depends on from what theory of policy we look at the situation haha
